PICTURE I CHOSE
HAWKER CENTRE
This picture depicts a scene at the hawker centre in Ubi. There are many smells at the hawker centre, such as the freshly brewed coffee beans that make what all adults love, coffee! It is also home to many other savoury food, such as the fried and crispy chicken wings that we all know and love is one of the many common variety of food that you see nearly everywhere. You can also smell the thick and brown gravy made by chefs that give their dishes more taste and texture. The sights that you will commonly see at any hawker centre are their dazzling, bright and glowing advertisement boards which showcase what dishes they are famous for. You will also see people such as business man or housewives coming and going out of the hawker centre. As for sounds that you hear at hawker centres, it will most likely be waitresses shouting loudly, orders by customers. An example is, they will shout "KOPI-O!!!" You can also hear the sizzling of foods cooked in thick oil which will make the food end up soft and tender. Sometimes, the food is so tender that even the oil will ooze out. The tastes that your taste buds will be glad to try are the different mouth-watering delicacies by different races such as the Malays world-wide known roti-prata, the Chinese tasty hokkien mee and spicy laksa which contains condensed coconut milk. There is also the famous chicken curry made by Indians, and last but not least deep fried fish and chips by the Westerns. Though there are delicious food to taste, the places that you sit at might not be so pleasant. You will have to bear and sit at greasy, oily tables that are sometimes not properly cleaned.
